Toronto, ON (April 30, 2015) -- The Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada (SMCC) announced yesterday the recipients of the 2015 Sponsorship Marketing Awards (SMAs). The annual awards event honours properties, brands and companies whose dynamic activations and partnerships set the standard of excellence in sponsorship marketing in Canada.

Out of more than 80 award submissions this year, winners were announced in nine categories, as well as an overall Best in Show award and one induction into the SMCC Sponsorship Marketing Awards Hall of Fame.  The event also featured powerful presentations from keynote speakers Tammy Moore, CEO, ALS Canada; Scott Moore, President, Rogers Sportsnet and NHL Properties; and Rob Assimakopoulos, CMO, CIBC.

As well as other awards, Scotiabank took home the most prestigious honour of the day after being inducted into the SMCC Sponsorship Marketing Awards Hall of Fame. Awarded to programs that have won three Gold and/or Best in Show awards at previous Sponsorship Marketing Awards, the induction was granted to Scotiabank for two programs: Scotiabank Community Hockey and Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada. Bell Let’ s Talk also captured the spotlight for Clara’s Big Ride, winning not only the Gold Award for Best New Initiative, but also the overall Best in Show award.

“[The event]was a testament to the forward-thinking nature and creativity of the Canadian sponsorship marketing landscape” said Tyler Mazereeuw, Sponsorship Marketing Council Canada Chair and Senior Director, Business Development, Canadian Football League. “Not only were we able to celebrate the best of Canadian sponsorship, but the bold discussions and brave ideas coming out of the 12th annual conference will continue to push the boundaries of sponsorship marketing and better the industry as a whole.
